Imagine.

Tomorrows become yesterdays
Like a cherished memory
Quickly losing flavour
Like salt cast in the wind
Dispersing whither chance decrees

When tomorrow comes today
Do aspirations greater succeed?
Or clinging still to ether past
Drift away in the wind
Like raindrops in the sun

Blood spilt cannot again be gathered
Waste cannot again renewed
Like the lingering smell after rain
Footprints never to be retraced
Snow covers not the stain

Marching through the ages
Always forward, never back
Retrospect’s efficacy reduced
Foresight limited
Like the ticking of a metronome

Destruction begets not creation
Silence gives not the spoken answer
Slipped away on silver wings
Like the profusion of leaves come fall
Alight the sky but not to break

Imagine all the souls in accord
One light to light the sun
Like a family at once healed and broken
Tender dream drifting silently away
Tomorrow comes not back again
